Welcome to one of Stanground's best kept secrets!
The Woolpack has been serving the people of the ancient village of Stanground since at least 1711 and we like to think we're one of the friendliest pubs around.
The pub was rebuilt in 1850 for local publican brewer Jeremiah Brewster (he'd have to be a brewer with a name like that wouldn't he?). The old barn at the back of the pub was probably where Jeremiah did his brewing. Although we don't brew our beer nowadays we do stock some excellent beers, some occasionally come from local breweries. You will find upto 5 ales on the bar at anytime with Woodforde's Wherry and Tim Taylor's Landlord being the regular.
Even though we're hidden away in the old village down what was at one time known as Water End (now North Street) we attract customers from a wide area, with some even cycling from Werrington to sample our ales!
Food is served Monday to Sunday Lunchtimes and Tuesday to Saturday in the early Evenings until 9pm. Sunday evening we hold our very popular quiz.
We like the idea that people can pop in at any reasonable time so we open all day, every day from midday.
Our darts teams are well supported and some evenings it can get quite busy when matches are being played so prepare to be squeezed occasionally!.
We raised a whopping £1453.11 from our charity day in October - £203.30 of it was sponsorship for one of our customers completing the half marathon (well done Mal)! £382.50 was from our raffle for which ALL prizes were donated by local businesses and customers! We will add £200 from our lottery fund making a total of £1653.11 for HELP FOR HEROES. Thanks so much to everyone
Cheers and call in soon
